Black Stripe Theater

Director: Chris Parham
Chris is a teacher, actor and director from London. His theatre work in Tokyo includes Trofimov in TIP’s The Cherry Orchard, Will in Writing William and Trevor in The Last Christmas for New World’s Theatre, and Gus in The Dumb Waiter for Black Stripe Theater. He directed Death of a Salesman for TIP a year ago and three short plays in November at Temple University. Chris is a CSSD graduate and currently doing a part-time MA through Rose Bruford in London.

クリスは、ロンドン出身の教師、俳優そして監督。彼の東京での活躍は、Tokyo International Playersでの舞台”The Cherry Orchard”においてトロフィモヴ、”Writing William”でのウィル、New World’s Theatreでの舞台” The Last Christmas”においてトレバー、そして、Black Stripe Theaterの舞台” The Dumb Waiter”でのガスなど俳優として出演。監督としては１年前にTokyo International Playersにて、” Death of a Salesman”を製作、11月にはテンプル大学において短編の舞台3作品を製作する。CSSDを卒業し、最近ではロンドンにあるRose Brufordにて修士を習得中。

Assistant Director: Aya Yoshitama
Aya was born in Tokyo but grew up in Miyazaki. She is a trained dancer and has studied classical ballet for 13 years. She entered Temple University Japan in 2004 and transferred to main campus in Philadelphia in 2006. She studies communication and theatre at university and has undertaken work as an assistant stage manager for previous campus performances.

東京で生まれ、8歳から高校卒業までを宮崎県にて過ごす。クラシックバレエを13年間学び、バレエダンサーとして多くの舞台経験を積む。2004年、フィラデルフィア州立テンプル大学日本校へ入学。2006年にはアメリカ、ペンシルベニア州にあるテンプル大学本校へ留学。大学ではCommunication and Theaterを専攻し、留学中にアシスタントとして大学内での舞台製作に参加する。

Production Assistant: Shinako Wakatsuki
Originally from Tokyo, Shinako started her stage career at 3 years old as a Japanese traditional dancer (Nihon Buyō). She studied at Royal Holloway, University of London (MA in Theatre), and performed in contemporary dance pieces at LABAN. Her stage career in Europe includes Samuel Beckett’s Rockaby at Dublin Fringe Festival 2006 and Athens Tour 2007, and Opera Madam Butterfly at Royal Albert Hall.

東京出身、３歳から日本舞踊を習う。ロンドン大学ロイヤルホロウェイカレッジにて演劇学修士号を取得。ロンドンにてコンテンポラリーダンス公演、パブシアター等に出演。サミュエル・ベケット作「ロッカバイ」を下敷きとした一人芝居でダブリン演劇祭に参加し、同作品をアテネでも上演した。昨年はロンドン、ロイヤルアルバートホールにてオペラ「マダム・バタフライ」に出演。

Levene: Walter Roberts
Walter is a founding member of The Black Stripe Theater and directed its inaugural productions of The Dumb Waiter and Victoria Station last summer. He has recently finished a national Japanese tour as a cellist with the one man production of Ken Ogata’s Cyrano De Bergerac. Last year Walter appeared in Chris Parham’s production of Death of a Salesman in the role of Willly Loman. He has worked on the professional stage in Chicago and New York with the National Shakespeare Theatre Company. Tokyo roles have included: Othello, Macbeth, and Problem Child and The Drawer Boy with the Sometimes Y Theatre Company. Walter can be seen on NHK’s Television program Tokyo Strangers and is soon to appear in the film Watashiwah Kai ni Naritai. Walter is a graduate of The Goodman School of Drama.

ウォルターはBSTの創設メンバーであり、昨年の夏、The Dumb Waiter と Victoria Stationを監督として製作。最近では、日本人俳優の緒方拳が製作するCyrano De Bergeracにチェロ奏者として参加し、ツアーを終えたばかり。昨年は、クリス・パーハム監督作品” Death of a Salesman”にウィリー・ローマン役で出演。シカゴとニューヨークでは、the National Shakespeare Theatre Companyにてプロの俳優として舞台経験を持つ。東京では、the Sometimes Y Theatre Companyにおいて、” Othello”, “Macbeth”, “Problem Child”そして “The Drawer Boy”に参加する。NHKのテレビプログラム” Tokyo Strangers” にも出演。まもなく公開される映画、“私は貝になりたい”に出演。The Goodman School of Dramaを卒業。

Roma: Justin Berti
Justin’s dad describes his son as a true salesman, “I have a lot of respect for you. At auditions you whore yourself, and mostly all you get is rejection. You sell the one commodity you truly own, yourself. You get no salary, no guarantees, yet since you don’t ask your mom and I for money, I would say you’re a damn good salesman!” Born in NYC, Justin is a Columbia University graduate and former Division 1 baseball player. He is a consummate professional but being a “gaijin” in Tokyo he receives considerably less pay and respect than he deserves…but he ain’t bitter. In his spare time he teaches yoga, dance, and fitness training at an incredible gym called Kaatsu Studio 51.5 http://www.515.co.jp/ .

ジャスティンの父は、息子を『本物のセールスマン』として表現している。彼はジャスティンに“俺はお前を大いに尊敬している。お前は多くのオーディションを受け、自分自身を売り込んだが、多くからは拒否もされた。それでもお前は、自分自身をたった一つの商品として、売り続けている。収入もなければ、保証も無い。だが、私や母親にお金を要求したりはしない。まったく、お前は最高のセールスマンだよ！”ジャスティンはニューヨークで生まれ、コロンビア大学を卒業。野球選手でもある。彼は、役者として見事なまでのプロ意識を持ちつつ、期待とはほど遠い収入を得ながら、東京で“外人”として生活する。白金台にある加圧トレーニングスタジオ（http://www.515.co.jp/）にて、ヨガ、ダンス、フィットネスのトレーナーとして役者以外の時間を過ごしている。

Williamson: Christopher Pellegrini
Christopher hails from Vermont (USA) and has been acting in Tokyo for five years. Recent roles include the title character in the short film “The Charles Anderson Project” (currently in production) and leading roles in a variety of TV commercials and promotional videos over the past several months. He has also seen additional time on the small screen as of late by landing small parts on a few different serial dramas. Christopher is very excited to be working as a member of the Black Stripe Theater team in this spring’s production of Glengarry Glen Ross.

クリストファーの出身はアメリカ、バーモント州。東京では5年間の役者経験がある。最近では、短編フィルム“The Charles Anderson Project”に出演。また、TVコマーシャルやプロモーションビデオに主演している。また、連続ドラマにも様々な役で出演している。今回BSTの公演、” Glengarry Glen Ross”に劇団の一員として出演する事をとても楽しみにしている。

Moss: Ryan Drees
“I don’t have to tell you anything. Ok, I’m from Minnesota; short guy, chip on my shoulder. Been in Tokyo for a long time. Been busy. Doing things. F–k this bio. Oh, this character, or whatever the f–k you call him, has been a stretch. Last year I was Happy in Death of a Salesman. What happened? I’m going home. Na, I’m not going home, I’m going to Suginami.”

Aaronow: Noel Adams
Noel is very pleased to have the opportunity to be in the cast of a play by one of the greatest contemporary playwrights, David Mamet. Audiences have seen Noel often, (perhaps too often for some) over the years in TIP productions, most recently as Treeves in The Elephant Man. Other roles have been Uncle Ben in Death of a Salesman, Robert in Proof, Orsino in Amadeus and Marvin in California Suite. When not acting, he teaches English and otherwise amuses himself in ways we won’t go into here.

現代演劇を代表する劇作家の一人であるデイヴィッド・マメットの今作品に参加できることに心から喜んでいるノエルは、最近では「エレファント・マン」のトリーブス役をはじめとして、「セールスマンの死」のベン叔父、「プルーフ」のロバート、「アマデウス」のオーシーノや「カリフォルニア・スイート」のマーヴィン等これまでに多くのTIP（Tokyo International Players）公演に参加してきた。芝居の傍ら、英語を教えている。

Lingk: Andrew Woolner
Based in Yokohama but originally from Toronto, Andrew Woolner has conquered France (King Henry V, Henry V), hidden from Nazis (Peter Van Daan, Diary of Anne Frank), been an ass (Benedict/Dogberry), and much more. Although he does less acting these days, he still believes Theatre can change the world. Andrew is also the current Artistic Director of The Yokohama Theatre Group.

トロント出身で、現在は横浜をベースに活動中。これまでに演じた役柄は、「ヘンリー５世」タイトルロール、「アンネの日記」のペーター、「から騒ぎ」のベネディック／ドグベリーなど。最近は役者として演じる機会は減ってきたが、いまだに演劇は世界を変えられると固く信じており、現在はYokohama Theatre Groupの芸術監督を務める。

Baylen: Mishal Samman
Meesh is from Saudi Arabia and came to Tokyo to pursue his higher education after university and working in the US. Finding great opportunity in Tokyo entertainment, he found his way to the stage as Yasha in a TIP production of The Cherry Orchard and Stanley in Death of a Salesman. When he is not working you might find him parading round Disneyworld as a Storm Trooper.

サウジアラビア出身。アメリカでの大学生活、仕事を経て更なる経験をと東京にやって来た。「桜の園」のヤーシャ、「セールスマンの死」のスタンリーなど、TIP制作公演などでの演劇活動をはじめ、東京での舞台活動に刺激を受けている。芝居のない時はディズニーワルドで、ストームトゥルーパー役でパレードしている彼が見られるかも？！
