Who are Black Stripe Theater?

Black Stripe Theater began in 2007 with a production of Pinter’s The Dumb Waiter directed by Walter Roberts and starring Ian Martin and Chris Parham.  Over the next ten years with help of Rachel Walzer and Tim Harris, the group staged 20 productions of classic, modern and contemporary plays including the works of Pinter, Ionesco, Mamet and Ayckbourn.  In 2017, the group started on a new journey of taking performances and workshops to schools and universities in and around Tokyo.  With the help of the actor/writer Brandon Francis, the group have found ways to engage and inspire young people through original adaptations of classic stories.
